Lucy John Mpembo from a small village in Tanzania, Liuli where she grew up on the shores of Lake Nyasa. Lucy enjoyed her life in Liuli but always wanted to experience more adventure.

In 2003 Lucy enrolled at the African Institute of Business Management where she studied Hotel management & Tourism. Her internship in 2004 / 2005 was focused on housekeeping, restaurant management and front office.

In 2005 Lucy started working as Food & Beverage supervisor at La Gemma del Est in Zanzibar. By 2008 she had learned much about hospitality industry in practice and ventured into the world of tour guiding and started Kendwa Beach Tours & Safaris, as an owner-run tour company.

Lucy loves people, interacting and serve those around her. It gives her great joy to see tourists enjoy the magic that Zanzibar has to offer.

Because of her love for people Lucy also created an NPO, MAMA AFRICA and Children Care Association where she uses the profits from Kendwa Tours to help the local mothers and children with every day needs and education.
